LIBRARY & INFORMATION SERVICE:
 

     Provide service to research scientists and commercial organizations who require oceanographic information, data or advice.
One of the unique collections of literature on marine sciences in the country is housed in the Institute Library. That includes about 3000 books, 5000 bound periodical and serial volumes, institute records, archives, reprints, microfiches, maps, atlases and CDs.
     The primary task is to maintain this collection by following a vigorous policy for international collaboration; to catalogue and index for fast retrieval and to disseminate to Institute Staff and more widely, details of new publications and sources of information of reference to marine science research and its technology applications.

International membership: International Association of Aquatic Sciences Libraries and Information Centers ( IAMSCLIC) and European Association of Aquatic Sciences and Information Centers (EURASLIC).

     Technical Workshop

The workshop is designed for repair and maintenance of scientific equipment as well as for manufacturing prototypes of scientific tools. It is furnished with the necessary equipment and tools and is served by a qualified staff.

     Shkorpilovtsi Research Base

It is located at the coast about 50 km south of Varna and offers possibilities for monitoring and study of the coastal zone dynamic processes, tests and adoption of different marine technologies, education of students. A pier 230 m long and 7 m high can be used for mounting of different sensor and sample devices. The building provides a conference room and accommodation for 35 persons.

   
R/V AKADEMIK
 

     A multipurpose ship, designed to carry out scientific surveys at sea. It is furnished with contemporary navigational and research equipment and is operated by well-trained crew.
